When I hear the words ‘maternity jeans’ I don’t exactly think of chic, style forward denim. In fact, some pretty unfortunate visuals usually creep into my head and make me cringe. Just being honest, but I didn’t think there was going to be much out there that I could wear while expecting and still feel like me.

I’m guessing that’s why I’ve pretty much been avoiding maternity wear like the plague since first finding out I was pregnant. But guess what? Now that I’m at 24 weeks and starting to pop a pretty pronounced baby belly, there wasn’t much cuteness to be found in squeezing into my old denim. In reality, it was downright painful. It is without doubt that I can’t wait to give birth and be able to feel like myself in jeans again, I might even have to treat myself and have a look at Filly Flair and other websites for a massive jean haul in the future!

A few friends of mine gave me the heads’ up that one of my favorite brands and online shopping destinations, ASOS, also carries a pretty robust maternity line. Who knew?! There were all of my favorite looks (think: leather skinnies, moto jackets, skinny jeans, chic dresses) all repurposed for belly bustin’ babes like me! I think I’ve found heaven. I immediately beelined to the maternity jeans to see, “is there anything cool, or will I be stuck in mom-jean, boxy cut hell?” And whaddya know, tons of options and lots of darling, distressed, coated and stylish jeans galore. I definitely hit the payload.

Pairing my new distressed, skinny maternity jeans with an au currant Adidas top and a leather jacket and I was off and running… well, running as fast as a pregnant chick in heels can.

Can you see my little bump finally making its debut? I know its not exactly KA-POW in your face just yet, but I’m excited I’m finally starting to show and am really embracing the belly. I’ve been feeling kicks everyday and knowing he’s dancing around and growing in there is the coolest, most magical feeling in the world!

And yes, I’m still rockin’ the heels, can you believe it? It actually hasn’t gotten uncomfortable… yet, so I’m taking advantage and wearing some of my favorite stilettos while I still can. I bought these Louboutins for Spring right before I found out I was expecting and I couldn’t wait for a sunny day to bust these blush suede babies out.

If you can’t tell, I’m on the maternity jeans bandwagon – seriously, I love them! – and the only question I have remaining is, “where have these been all my life?!” As the weeks continue, I’m excited to see what other fun maternity finds are out there.
