This pregnancy has been such a special time our lives, I’ve been quite eager to celebrate it in a way that wasn’t just an OOTD post, or another fashion look showing my bump. A maternity photoshoot that brought out the more magical, miraculous side of our bodies was something I was both excited and somewhat freaked out to do.
As I scanned for inspiration through the various ‘maternity photoshoot’ looks online, I saw lots of beautiful imagery, but nothing as unique as I was hoping for. I turned to my friend and photographer, Erik Marthaler, to collaborate on something that would be memorable, different, and embracing of his edgy, artistic eye.
It involved a see through lace gown (good thing I’m not modest), various spots around the city, plenty of wise cracks, and a hefty dose of smizing.
Running around the city half-naked in this gown was probably about the most excitement I’ll be having for the next 6 weeks until baby comes, so I’m glad I had the opportunity to have a little fun with this. I started the photoshoot out lugging around a robe everywhere to keep covered up, but a few minutes in abandoned that notion and just went with it! I’m pretty sure at one point I just forgot it on the floor anyway. C’est la vie!
The gown I snatched up super cheap on Amazon here for just about $20. Apparently these ‘boudoir style’ maternity gowns are a thing — I had no idea! There are tons of them online. Don’t forget the double-sided tape (like I did), it will be your best friend with a deep v like this one.
Cheers to celebrating pregnancy in all of its beauty and mystique!
