Mad for Plaid

Living in layers has got to be my absolute favorite. As much as I adore summer, there is nothing quite as fulfilling stylistically for my soul than layers on layers. It just feels… finished. There is something much more polished and sophisticated about a look that has a few facets. Throwing on a duster over a fabulous shift did the trick for me this week and I’m ultra obsessed with this look. Like, an I want to wear this everyday look (and I probably will). Two pieces makes it effortless, but the structure of the pieces made it chic.

With all of the cute fall dresses out there, how do you know where to start? I always love hunting for a fabulous shift. Which is exactly how I came to this amazing lace-trimmed plaid shift from Vici. A shift is a great option for day since the fit falls away from the body and creates a stylish, “I’m not trying to hard” silhouette.

On this shift, the lace trim keeps it flirty and feminine, while the plaid print is uber-seasonal — even in its unexpected palette of grey, black and blush — BLUSH! I’m so in love with this dress, I can’t even stand it.

SHOP THE LOOK

All of the above couldn’t be any more affordable… I pulled the whole look together for under $200 including bag, shoes and accessories. WIN, fall, win!

A good friend of mine who follows your blog wants to know if Shein is a completely safe website to buy from. Some of the sites are very sketchy… I had a problem with one ..but luckily got my money back.

Yes, it is totally safe from a financial/credit card perspective… but, these are the things I always tell everyone about buying from them:

      1. Check the measurements (not the size) before buying — when you hover over the size, it provides measurement info in inches. Make sure you’re looking at this because the sizing is all over the place and some items run very, very small.
      2. Shipping is slow boat from China. Literally. Don’t expect it to arrive quickly.
      3. Returns are a pain in the ass — and who wants to pay to send something back to China? So don’t buy unless you’re willing to take the loss if the piece doesn’t work out. Because of the cheap costs, I am… but some may not be.

Side note: none of this applies to Vici. They are based out of So Cal and all of their pieces are true to size.

I was just about to order the vici dress but saw no returns . Was worried about sizing – I’m 5’4 and 140 lb . I did order the duster tho

You should be good with a medium in the plaid dress — they dont do returns, but will issue a store credit, so if something doesn’t work out you can always find something else. Vici replenishes their stock daily!
